Parking Lot, Smithers, British Columbia.

School, Boy Scouts, Work and Drive Day

We spent the biggest part of the day doing work and our school routine. It had been a rainy morning so we didn't go anywhere. I asked Jonathan if he wanted to try to go see the bears this morning at the overlook and he just said "No." We saw a bear in the woods last night and had seen a few along the road driving down here so I guess we've seen our share for now. He's a "slow waker upper" too which I can totally relate to!

The three of us had breakfast then got into our usual routines. Jonathan has been doing a good job working independently on his school work. I got some things around the RV done to get us ready to go today while Tom worked.

Jonathan and I had a Boy Scout meeting today. That was fun. He set some goals for himself with regards to pins he wanted to earn so he's excited about that. I had made some brownies as treats for our meeting so that helped make it special too.

When 1:00 rolled around it was time to start packing up the rig and get ready to hit the road. We were going to try to drive down through where the lava pits once were but the road that lead there didn't look like one we wanted to take the RV on when we arrived so we ended up opting to stay on the Cassiar to the Yellow ______ then into Smithers which I guess is a big ski town in the winter months.

Jonathan saw a McDonald's sign that said "10 Kilometers." It had a play place too. He asked if we could eat there tonight so Tom told him that if he could tell him how many miles it was to the McDonalds before we got there, we'd stop for dinner. It was cute. Jonathan hunted around for a piece of paper and figured it out so we went to McDonalds for dinner tonight. Jonathan got a workout too. There were other kids there so he was climbing up and down.

It was dark when we left so we ended up parking the rig in the parking lot next door tonight. The sign on the building said "Overnight RV Parking Welcome" so we'll see if they have us move before Tom's done with work tomorrow. We'll have to see what happens.

We will be driving to Prince George tomorrow afternoon. There's a musuem there we didn't get to when we came up that sounded like fun so we'll go see that.
