2010 - 2011 Adventure travel blog

Well, we’ve been married 14 years today (of 31 years together). Went to Denny’s for breakfast.

Then later headed back to Dennison to the g.s. That is quite the place. You have to put your purse in a locker – can only use pencils that they provide. When you take a book or microfilm out to look at, you cannot put it back yourself. We spent 4 hours going through census indexes, family histories, birth records, microfilm of handwritten census and newspapers and think we found a possible link right about the time they were closing (and they weren’t going to be open again until Thursday), so Bob will need to try to do more searching from home through the Internet. They did show Bob their “archives” – in a huge metal building behind the center totally filled from floor to ceiling with all the old original hand-written data (most of which was on microfilm and indexes and copied for the public use in the other building).

Since we couldn’t do anymore and wanted to get back to Weebles, we took off from there and headed for home. We got as far as right inside the Indiana border on the tollway and stopped at another motel. Of course there was nowhere around to eat - so for our anniversary supper I had the last of the cashews and Bob had the last of the tortilla chips! And again, no wifi – but they had ice…..
