Lake Whitney Thousand Trails, Whitney, TX
Driving to Whitney Texas
We got up this morning when we woke up which was about 8:00. We did our grocery shopping, put things away once we got back to the RV and had Pop Tarts for breakfast. Then it was time to hit the road. It was about 11:00 by the time we were actually on the highway.
We drove straight through with the exception of one detour. We ended up being sent down neighborhood streets and such. As long as there wasn't any oncoming traffic, we could dodge the trees pretty well but it was a little hairy at some points. We stopped along the side of the road and regrouped. It was time for lunch too so we grabbed a sandwich and then got back on the road. While we were stopped a fellow FMCA (Family Motor Coach Association) member stopped to see if we needed any help. Bob and his wife, Linda, were headed to the same place we were. We ended up pulling into the campground right behind them and are camped next to them. Jonathan and I ran into them in the clubhouse and found out they are Escapees too. When I mentioned we were as well, he said "Where's my hug?" Escapee parks pride themselves on greeting visitors with a hug and making you feel welcome. It sounded like they had been fulltiming for a long time.
We spent the rest of the afternoon and evening getting settled in. Tom cleaned the windshield and put the window covers on. He got the bikes off the rack and the lawn chairs out so our patio is ready to use and Jonathan and I can jump on the bikes for a ride at any time.
I focused on the inside. I pulled things out from storage, cleaned the bathroom and sinks and started something for dinner. I'm looking forward to having a patio area again. Maybe we'll even get around to grilling!
Pictures will be coming when the hard drive is repaired.
Pictures were lost when the hard drive died.
