A Quiet Vacation Day
We all slept in this morning but it wasn't too late because we all went to bed between 10:00 and 10:30 last night. Tuckered out!
After breakfast, Tom went up on the roof to take a look at the satellite dish. He had heard a sound that sounded like it was the dish. The winds have been pretty constant here in Williams. There is some play in the arm of the dish so he's going to contact the company about it. If there's that much play in it, we get knocked off line pretty easily. He worked most of the day on hooking up the new control panel for the inverter. He can monitor the batteries better now and it's a job he's been wanting to get done for a long time now.
We spent a little bit of time sitting out on the patio area talking. The weather was nice today just windy. Jonathan hooked up with a couple other boys in the campground and rode bikes for a while then met another boy and they talked scooters and skateboards.
We stopped up front to turn in our key cards for the laundry facility, mail a few items and ask about the restaurants in town for dinner. The woman at the desk suggested a place called Pine Country Restaurant. It was a nice place inside. They had good help but our food was lacking. Everything was just bland. I even tried their famous pie and it didn't taste good enough to finish. Needless to say, we were disappointed. The waitress was so nice and apologetic. She did a great job though so we couldn't fault her.
We took a drive around town. Williams sits on Route 66 and has survived only because of the Railway up to the Grand Canyon. We can now say we've driven (for a very short distance) on Route 66.
It was about 8:00 when we got home. Tom and Jonathan have spent a little bit of time playing games on the Wii. I've heard them laughing here and there.
It's about time to call it a night though. We have to take the RV into Freightliner in the morning over in Flagstaff to have some work done while we're in the area. Hopefully it won't take too long. We'll do a Walmart run while we are in town and then swing back by the Williams post office to pick up mail.
We'll drive up to the Kaibab Forest after that to hook up with our friends, the Swindlings, again and get ready for our hike into the Canyon on Friday.
We've got lots of pictures from this past week so I'll be filling in over the next few days.
