Spokane Water Fall from Sky Ride

River feeding the water fall

Fountain in the Riverside Park

Wednesday, June 13, 2007, we left Coulee Dam area via highway 174. It was a constant steep climb through the mountains for about the first 10 to 12 miles and then it turned into the straightest highway we have seen for many weeks. The landscape was now rolling hills and rolling farm fields with mountains in the distance, very pretty. We then caught highway 2 into Spokane, Washington and parked at the Trailers Inn RV Park. It was an older park with the parking spots very close together so it took some maneuvering to get parked. Also on the negative side, this park was very close to I-90 so the highway traffic was noisy but on the positive side they had a very good Wifi signal. The Winnebago computer club of which I belong, asked for volunteers to judge web sites in time for the big Winnebago Rally coming up in July. The judging needed to be finished by June 20th so I spent all day Thursday on the Wifi network judging 23 different club web sites. It was time consuming and a lot of work doing the judging but I got my part done. They have a lot of others judging also so I was not the only one who had to toil through the process. Friday I took Carol to get her blood tested and then we went downtown Spokane to look around. We visited Riverfront Park which had some "left-over" facilities of the 1974 World's Fair or Expo'74'. There was also a carousel, a fountain kids were playing in and a small train ride. We took a ride on the Sky Ride over the Spokane Water Falls. It was a very short ride but took 20 minutes because they stopped the cable to let on and off each gondola load of people. Move a little then stop, move a little then stop, so we got a good look of the falls. We also went across the street and visited a three level shopping mall and eat lunch there at the Sawtooth Grill where their specialty is fancy hamburgers and sandwiches.

Saturday we are heading to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
