A trip to Tombstone was the first planned activity. Thankfully Jo Ella and Gary and Jo Ella's parents, Mary and J.E. have been here before. We arrived in town early to get our tickets to all the shows etc. We strolled around town until time for the Historama, "a dramatic multimedia presentation of Tombstone's colorful past". It was interesting and probably the best thing we saw all day. Next we met Doc Holiday for a presentation on his life and a lesson on playing Farro. Gary and Sherri were among the "volunteers" chosen from the audience to play. This was fun and we were impressed with this impersonator of Doc Holiday, one of the best, in our opinion.
Lunch was served to us at Big Nose Kate's Saloon. The food was great and the entertainment was good too. After lunch we saw the "shoot out" show where actors reinacted the Gunfight at the OK Corral. They also did a short comedy skit. There was lots of gunfire and fighting. Next on the schedule was the Wild West Show. We had expected trick riders etc, but instead we were entertained with a sort of western comedy show, including horses and a really cute burro. We returned home tired, but enriched by the history we had seen and heard. We WILL need to return to Tombstone again. There is much yet to see and experience.
