Today I went on a day-trip to a place called Akaroa - it's about an hour and a half drive from Christchurch and is a little harbour side town that was first settled in the 1800's by French people. The views on the way there were beautiful - lots of rolling green hills and secluded bays. I was surprised at how few houses there were considering the scenery was so beautiful. The town itself was tiny - I was only there for 3 hours but managed to walk up and down the length of it about 5 times! The weather was quite cold which made sitting by the ocean a bit miserable after a while - it would have been perfect if the weather had been better. Instead I sat in a cafe looking out at the ocean - much warmer :) It made for a nice relaxing day anyway!
