Animal Kingdom and Campfire with Evans and DeMichiels

We got up early this morning so we could stop by the Evans to drop off a card and coin to Conner. We weren't sure if we would see them again before we headed out. When we got to Animal Kingdom, we decided to head straight for the Kilimanjaro Safari on the advice of a couple we met at the Space Center the other day. They both work at Animal Kingdom and suggested taking the safari early in the day because the animals are more active at that time. We saw lots of animals.

We wandered around the park for a little while then decided to beat the lunch crowd and have something early today. We found a spot where we could get a burger and drinks so we did that. The seating area was tucked in behind the building so it was quiet and cool back there. We ate lunch and just relaxed for a little while. Jonathan kept pestering Tom so he started teasing too. By the time it was all said and done, Tom had Jonathan's hat on and Jonathan had Tom's hat on and they were making goofy faces at each other. I just kept snapping picutures.

After lunch we walked around in the Asia part of the park. We didn't focus on the animals as much this time as we did when we came a couple years ago. We didn't make it to the amusement part of the park at all back then so that was our focus today. We headed for Mt. Everest next. This ride looks so cool from anywhere in the park. Jonathan was all gung ho too so we went for it. The ride was a little scary in that there were surprises along the way if this was the first time a person had been on it but it was fun. I won't give it all away. When we got off, Jonathan said "I'm never going to ride that again!" Tom had taken pictures all through the ride so he pulled the camera out and we looked at the shots. Jonathan was smiling in all of them. We used the pictures to kind of convince him that maybe it wasn't as bad as he thought it was. When he saw the pictures he smiled and relaxed a bit but was still sure he wouldn't go on it anymore which was fine.

We headed over into the "Dinosaur" part of the park. We had never been here before either so it was new and different. One area was set up a lot like a carnival. Jonathan found his ride here. It was another rollercoaster but not as high as Mt. Everest. This one spun around too. We all went on it a couple of times. Tom lost his hat though. It landed on top of the building used to shade the people waiting in line and the employees. This was his Oshkosh hat from 10 years ago so we had to try to get it back. The employees told us they walk the track at 6:00 and that we could come back and get his hat then. Jonathan wanted to go on the rollercoaster again so he and Tom rode together. I sat this one out and found a bench where I could relax for a bit, call mom and visit for a little while. Once we got Tom's hat, we headed out for home.

When we got home, we connected with Evans and DeMichiels. They were going to have a campfire tonight at DeMichiels place. Their site was the one with the open yard right next door to the site we were in the first time we stayed here so that worked out nice. The kids played and we talked. It was a nice evening but a late one. We came home around midnight and headed for bed. We have to check out at noon tomorrow then head for Tampa and we are all tired.
