We drive from Auckland towards the east coast towards Waihi Beach. What a wonderful drive .New Zealand has only 4 million people in the whole nation.Sp plenty of room to roam. We went through Karangahake Gorge area. A drive full of ferns and Palms. We visited a reserve with a rock strewn river and walkways by suspension bridges over the river...very scary..but beautiful walk and fun to see. It was an old gold mining area that has been reclaimed as a nature reserve. A very lush green area for sure.Next we visited the old Waikino Railroad Station. The call it the drive from the mountains to the sea. Very true. But the drive was not steep like our Mountains..more like rolling hills. We could see mountains in the distance though. Next we went to Waihi Beach .Many surfers were there..a beautiful place. We talked to a few locals and they said the weather was mild all year. We stayed a bit and enjoed teh view. ..then on to Tauranga ..where we spent the night along the Tauranga Harbour. Now onto where ever the road leads us! We will make our way back towards Hamilton .and be there on the 8th
G'Day for now.
