We spent many hours wandering through the countryside which has been used for cattle ranching since the mid-1800s. This part of Texas is known as the Highland Lakes area. The lakes, surrounded by granite hills, consist of a chain of 6 lakes which start at Lake Buccanan and ends with Lady Bird Lake in Austin and are popular with the recreational activities of water sports, fishing, hiking and golf.
