Auckland LOOKS a lot like San Diego especially from the water (harbour tour), with a big bridge, land to either side of the harbour, lots of marinas, etc. It FEELS like San Francisco with some killer hills. We schleped well over 5 miles yesterday, backpack & all. Hit a good sampling of the highlight spots. I ate my 1st "Fush & Chups" (greasy fish fillets, fries wrapped up in newspaper). Gotta buy your "tomatoe sauce" (ketchup) for $1.50 extra. NZ dollar is 75 cents US. Good restaurant last night, and now checking out, planning a 4 hr bus trip to Rotorua, the thermal/Maori/tourist mecca south of here. Plan 2 days, then fly to Wellington, ferry to South Island. We are well, walking is keeping us in shape, enjoying things so far. More pictures soon. We'll sign off for now.
