|We left departing Stockholm/Vaxholm until the last minute. Certainly there are other fascinating places in Sweden and the rest of Scandinavia, but we could not tear ourselves away from Vaxholm.
On departure day, we had some time and went to visit our new friend Per, in Uppsala. He kindly showed us around and the highlight for Tomas was visiting the cathedral and seeing the tomb of Emmanuel Swedendborg. It's not often, at least for us, to see a tomb of someone whose teachings you are familiar with, and to have it be a complete surprise is even more remarkable.
A 10:30 p.m. bus took us from Stockholm to Oslo, and after a quick transfer at 7 a.m. to the airport, we were ready to head to Reykjavik. Only problem was the guesthouse had cancelled our reservation. Once in Reykjavik, a very helpful tourist information lady helped us locate a hostel room in Grundafjordur on the Snaefellsnes peninsula. A few buse rides later, we arrived in our new home at 9:30 p.m. ready for a shower!
