Albuquerque Balloon Fest

The Glowdeo and Fireworks

Jonathan and I ran a couple errands this morning. He and Hannah played for a little while then we packed up and headed down the road toward Albuquerque for the Balloon Fest. When we arrived we found out that we could have come a day sooner. We had paid for four nights but the way it had been explained, we thought it was only three so we'll have to take care of that later.

Once we got to our campsite, we unhooked, set up and put things in their place. We met our neighbors and talked to them for a little while. They had just arrived today too so we were all going to go to the Glowdeo tonight.

We caught the bus around 5:30 to the balloon field. We scoped things out for a little then headed down the aisle to check out the vendors. Mom and I went into a T-shirt/Sweatshirt shop but the prices were outrageous so we'll go shopping in town someplace.

We found the funnel cakes so we got a couple of those. We found a place on the field and set up our lawn chairs so we could relax and watch the events of the evening. One balloonist was getting ready to inflate their balloon but we were in their way so they asked us to move. We weren't too happy about that at first but later decided it was a great move. We ended up right at the foot of the Darth Vader Balloon. Jonathan was in heaven all evening. We took all kinds of pictures so that was fun.

Once all the balloons were inflated you could see the when they were lit up. These were more than just regular hot air balloons too! They had everything from Darth Vader to a cow, Noah's Ark, Nemo, the Old Woman in the Shoe and a castle. You name it and it was there.

They packed the balloons up around 7:00 and the fireworks show started at 7:30. They did a great job with that too. We had beautiful weather and just had a great evening all around.
