Our grandson, Zander, flew into Albuquerque on June 23rd. On June 25th, Zander was introduced to fly fishing under the guidance of a professional guide from High Desert Angler, Santa Fe, NM. The waters in the area were low due to lack of winter snowfall and rain this year. The guide took Zander to the upper reaches of the Pecos River, Pecos, NM to private waters since the Santa Fe Forest was closed due to fire danger. Zander did a great job of picking up the instructions very quickly. He caught a Rainbow Trout and seven Brown Trout on this, his first time fly fishing. All in all, a very good introduction to the sport.

On the following day, June 26, we got Zander up early again for another adventure. This time, we had to travel 120 miles to Chama, NM where we met a bus at 8:30am that took us across the mountain to Antonitto, Colorado. At Antonitto, we boarded the Cumbre & Toltec Scenic narrow guage railroad train to travel back across the mountain to Chama. A really long day, but, some really great scenery which Zander enjoyed seeing and being on a rare steam engine locomotive.

The next day we did some relaxation after two straight days of getting up early to do activities.

On June 28th, we were up early again and headed to Bandelier National Monument and then onto Los Alamos in the afternoon for lunch and a tour of the Bradbury Museum.

On June 29th we headed to the Pecos National Historical Park to participate in a Ranger led tour of the Civil War battlefield at Glorietta Pass.

On June 30th, we visited the Santa Fe Farmers Market and then an exhibit at a glass blowing shop nearby. That evening, we celebrated my birthday at the Restaurant Martin in Santa Fe.

On July 1st, we returned Zander to his parents in Atlanta.
