|Sat, 06 Oct: Crosstown commute!?!
Today was an early-ish day as we were both awake before 0600. We didn't especially rush, but did manage to get our act together and roll wheels out of the Soaring Eagle RV park at 0850.
Bob took us to AZ 87 south to the AZ 202 loop, which we took westbound toward Sky Harbor Airport. Near the airport we transitioned to I 10 west, on which we continued to Tolleson. We exited on 99th Street and took it south a short distance to Freightliner of Tolleson.
We arrived at 0945 and the RV courtesy parking area was completely empty. We disconnected the car and Bob backed it into an end site. Today's drive was an easy 41 miles with an overall fuel economy of 8¼ mpg. Traffic was comparatively light, but in metro Phoenix that is always a "comparative".
We'll be here thru Monday when Carpe Diem goes in for her annual service/inspection. This is when she gets the once over by the Freightliner techs as well as having engine and generator service.
Meanwhile, we're close to Costco, Sam Club, Wal*Mart, and lotsa good eats so we won't be bored or go hungry.
Mon, 08 Oct: We're (temporarily) homeless...
After a busy weekend visiting many of the places cited above, we awoke to our alarm at 0 Dark o'clock. We never cared much for alarm clocks when we were doing that "W" thing, and we certainly haven't embraced them in our retirement.
We got Carpe Diem ready to move. Whether we're moving a few hundred miles or a dozen meters the same checklists are consulted. At 0700 Sandi got us checked in and ten or so minutes later the mechanic came out to claim Carpe. It is always a strange sight to see our "home" get driven away and inaccessible to us. We used our car and drove to a nearby Taco Bell for breakfast. Then back to the Freightliner dealer to wait.
As this is written Bob is on his way to Scottsdale (catty-wompus across Phoenix) and an eleven o'clock appointment at the Mayo Clinic. Sandi is in the Driver's Lounge pecking on the computer. If all goes well Bob will return early afternoon and Carpe Deim will get "sprung" around 1600.
Unless there is a compelling need for the coach to go back into service tomorrow and beyond we'll spend the nite here and drive to Casa Grande in the morning. Stay tuned...
