We anchored off Lynyard Cay for two nights. We got to snorkel at Sandy Cay where there is magnificent coral (lime green and flat or yellow-orange and like broad branches) and we saw some rays and schools of various fish. The fish weren’t as plentiful as we expected, but every snorkeling site has different conditions every day. From there we motored through a winding channel that has some shallow places to anchor off Hope Town Harbor and wait for the tide to rise so we could enter the harbor. Apr 24, 2014 - Hope Town, Elbow Cay, Abacos
We have been in Hope Town for an entire week. We left Treasure Cay a couple of hours before high tide and had plenty of water in the channel. Unfortunately, the wind was light and we needed to get to the Hope Town Harbor channel at high tide, so we motored the whole way. J&B put a fender on a mooring to save it for us, so we came in the harbor and picked it up. The moorings are crowded together , but it is a safe and secure harbor. The little town is charming. Apr 12, 2013 - Man O War Cay to Elbow Cay
4/12/13: Hope Town, Elbow Cay- We left Man O War on 4/8 fairly early and the ride over the here was <2 hrs. Hope Town is probably the second or third largest tourist island in the Abacos. The town is maybe 350 (?) and is very quaint. Many second homeowners here, so when they are all here, we hear that the island population including tourists can reach over 1,000. Our plans were to be here up to a week, and John promised Sue some luxury, so we docked at a resort called Hope Town Inn, and first class (for over here and home) it is. Pool with...Jump to full entry
