Jan 28, 2016 - Happy Birthday to my Honey

Happy Birthday to the Lady I love. Today was Marilyn’s Birthday and we celebrated ashore on Princess Cay in the Bahamas. Because of shallow water, the ship had to anchor out a ways and use the Life Boats as Tenders to transport all of us ashore. Marilyn & I started walking towards the Tenders with Eddie & Jan right behind us. We walked hand in hand and chatted away, unconcerned about our friends. Then we showed our ships cards and were pointed in the proper direction to board the boat. That was when we noticed our friends were missing,...

Apr 12, 2011 - Sea day!

It's a Sea day today. Okay, up at dawn, and I really couldn’t face my appointment without some food in my belly, so off to the breakfast buffet we went, and had some fruit and yogurt to tide us over. I went to an Ionithermie spa, which was basically a seaweed scrub, with an electrodes pulsating through my stomach and hip area. It felt really good and they claim to reduce your body weight in inches. Whooo Hooo. Anyway, shortly after that session, I went to the gym and ran on the treadmill, while Turkey was running outdoors. I also did some...

Apr 11, 2011 - Princess Cays, Bahamas

A beautiful day it is, and we started it off at the fitness centre. Turkey ran a couple of miles around the track, while I ran on the treadmill and then went to the weight room. Breakfast was good at the buffet. There are lots of fresh fruit and vegetables onboard, just my cup of tea!! After breakfast, we got ready to catch a tender to shore, as we had arrived at the Princess Cay Private Island, which is part of the Bahamas. We spent a couple of hours on their beach, had some lunch at the buffet and then enjoyed a few brewskies on the...

Mar 4, 2010 - Princess Cays, Bahamas

After a day at sea we arrive in the Bahamas in Princess Cruise Line own resort – Princess Cays. We are anchored out and have to go ashore by tender and the ship sends their staff ashore to organise the BBQ, bars and even waiter service on the beach. The air and the water temperature was markedly cooler than what we had experienced further south over the last week so we didn’t spend quite as long in the water. Tasty BBQ and a Pina Colada then back on the ship early to avoid the rush. Great having the ships pool and hot tub all to ourselves!

Feb 14, 2009 - At Sea - Bound for Ft Lauderdale

This day was a sea day, our last full day of cruising. We had our last balcony breakfast (there is no room service on the morning you disembark) and then we started to prepare to leave the ship. Joyce started packing and I went down to cash some traveler’s checks for tip money. By lunch time Joyce had things well in hand and we had the best lunch ever in the dining room. I checked email and did some writing for the journal and prepared to use my remaining internet time. Unfortunately, I could not seem to connect even though the computer...

Feb 9, 2009 - Cruise Day 1 & 2

This is the first full day of our cruise. Yesterday we checked out of the condo in Daytona and drove down to Ft. Lauderdale. The first part of the drive was a breeze other than a few construction areas on I-95. However, as we approached Ft. Lauderdale the traffic started increasing while the construction areas continued. Most of the traffic was running above the speed limit even in the construction zones. And this was on a Sunday! I can not imagine coming through there on a week day, especially at rush hour. We made it through okay, of...

Jan 8, 2009 - Warderick Wells

The journal is useful to record the good things we do and the amazing feats of accomplishment. It occasionally serves as a reminder that Bill does really stupid things. On our recent stay in Highborne as Jean was cooking on the stove, Bill sallied forth without glasses to the electrical panel in the dark pilot house. You would think that after five years, the switches for the galley blower and the deck washdown pump, altho adjacent on the panel, would be familiar. But after about a half hour, without exhausting the galley, Jean discovered...

Jan 21, 2008 - Cruise 1 Day 2 Princess Cays

We arrived at Princess Cays still under heavy skies that were leaking occasionally and with cool temperatures, but it was fairly comfortable. Accordingly, we decided to stay aboard and use the balcony as we were able. After breakfast in our room we finished the rest of our unpacking and spent most of the day kicked back in the room or on the balcony. Joyce hit the balcony fairly early with her book, but she was wearing her windbreaker. A lot of people did go in, but we had lots of company aboard as well. Some who went ashore did not stay...
