Nov 11, 2012 - Costa Rica

Do schafft me s während 2 Wuche Herbschtmäss e groosse Booge um e Schüttelbächer z mache, und denn hoggt me e paar 1000 Meter zmitz überem Atlantik und wird duregschüttlet. So sehr y mit em Fliege e Zwäckgmainschaft ygange bi, so wurd y in däne Momänt doch lieber z Fuess go.

Aug 5, 2012 - No way Jose!!!

We hit the road in spots to San Jose and arrived a good hour and half early! Which was great as the only air conditioning to stop our Irish skin from melting was through the open windows!  But it was back to the same old Thailand style because we were no sooner off the bus when some "helpful" men started picking up our bags and told us our hostel was full and he'd bring us to another one! After politely telling him to jog on we got ourselves to the fort Knox that was hostel Pangea! A bit of food and Internet to plan the next steps and then...

Jul 30, 2012 - Goodby South America

My final road trip in Central America and it was on local buses - but not the chicken buses that you find further north. One change of bus in a very uninteresting town followed by a taxi and we arrived at my final south American destination. The Hemingway Inn is a quirky place with rooms name after authors who spent time in south America - Hemingway for one never did find out if he stayed there but the place is pretty old and he may have done is a restored colonial building and they are still restoring but it does have a nice courtyard with...

May 18, 2012 - Day 3

Travelled from San Jose to La Fortuna. So far so good travelling with 7 strangers. Our tour guide (Melvin) is awesome. We went white water rafting on level 3 and 4 rapids. It was great. They were continuous rapids but the water wasn't so deep. The hostel is really nice. Really new and has everything. Not much different than a hotel only $60/night instead of $300. We went for an incredible dinner. Coconut shrimp. The cats and dogs are aloud to just come and go as they please so had dinner with one cat and one dog. Shared my shrimp as it was...

May 18, 2012 - Day 4

Woke up early again. Their breakfasts are soooo good. Pretty much you can get rice and beans no matter what time of day. The scrambled eggs are the best, cheese is really good (going to cheese factory in a couple days) and then we had papaya, pineapple *better than Hawaii even, bananas. All for $6. Its the only cheap meal I will find today lol. Went canyoneering. The first rappel was about 20 feet, the second about 120 feet, the third about 30 fee and the fourth about 220 feet. I have some great photos to upload later. The best part though...

May 16, 2012 - day 2

Saw 2 people on scooter (seperate incidents) get hit by taxis. It's crazy here. Insanely busy. Lotsa fun walking around and in their markets. Lunch was the best steak I've ever eaten. It actually was steak, chicken breast, prawns, avacados salad and veggies. Choked on some hot sauce. But the hot sauce on the steak was amazing. I wish I could get my pictures to post in here. Yes I have a photo of the steak. I never eat steak. Tonight going with the group for dinner :)

May 16, 2012 - Day 2

Found the computer but the keyboard isnt the same. Breakfast was amazing. Scrambled egss and fresh fruit. The hotel is the cutest hotel and is covered in murals and interesting things. I cant get my photos to up load here which is unfortunate because the facebook isnt working really well either. I am heading out today to see their National Theatre, a huge Catholic church (see if the candles light on their own lol) and wander around the market. Met a girl from London who is on my tour so we are just wondering around today. My back pack has...

Flight from Fort Mac to Calgary - 1 unfortunate gentleman was removed from flight due to over consumption of alcohol. Only in the Mac at 6 a m. Flight from Calgary to Houston- I had to crawl over girl who was in such deep sleep I couldn't wake her. Flight attendant could wake her. Luckily she wasn't dead. Mar 9, 2012 - Final Thoughts

The pictures have been difficult to upload on to this site, so until that problem is resolved please feel free to view all the photos from the trip by "liking" Venture Costa Rica on Facebook. Billy, Fabrisio, and Fabrisio's wife (Luna), were kind enough to document the entire trip for us. If you do not have Facebook, feel free to email me and I will send you some of the best shots when we return to the states. To those of you who helped to make this trip possible... Every one on the trip enjoyed a once in a lifetime experience here in Costa...

Mar 9, 2012 - Day Six

Our final full day in Costa Rica. The morning started with some free time for the girls. Each one decided to pass the time with a trip to the market, one last look at the beach, or luxuriating by the pool. After packing up the rooms, everyone loaded the bus for the return trip to San Jose. We returned to our original hotel and had a couple hours before getting on the bus again to head to Cartago for our second match of the trip. We got to experience some pretty crazy Costa Rican traffic, and therefore driving, on the way to the field, but...

Mar 5, 2012 - Day Two

Hello All! Sorry it has been so long since I have been able to update the blog. I was having issues logging on to the website, but now we are back! Day two consisted of an early morning wake up call and two different trips for the team. The majority of the team headed towards the Caribbean Coast to go white water rafting on the Pacuare River. This site is one of the top rafting spots in the world and the world championships were held there last year. Unfortunately, an unexpected heavy rain during dry season created a dangerous situation and...

Mar 4, 2012 - Day One

BUENAS!!! We are all settled here in San Jose, so we thought it was time to add the first update. The trip started out a little rocky with a turbulent flight from Dulles to San Salvador, El Salvador, but as soon as we flew over the beautiful country of Costa Rica things started to turn around for us. We got to our hotel around dinner time, ate a fantastic meal, and got ready for the week's events. Our first full day in San Jose was full of excitement. We started the day with a hike around one of the most active volcanoes in Costa Rica at...
