Mar 14, 2013 - The end of the sun!

We got home on the 3pm ferry and it was lightly raining. We are still getting used to putting paper in the toilet , not the waste basket as done in Costa Rica. No more Spanish and no more rice beans and monkeys. The ocean is calm and no surfers are here. Look forward to telling my friends some more fun stuff that happened on the trip! Good to be home but we will miss the sun and fun!

Mar 12, 2013 - Summer coming to an end!

Well it's been a fun warm great trip. But now our time to come home is here tomorrow. We have met some old friends and even more new friends . Once again we have not been let down with our travels in Costa Rica. Sad to leave but we have a heater and fire place at home that we will make good use of. Lol I have given all of our gifts to the people of Costa Rica and have enjoyed the faces of the children when they get their little gifts. The people we have met live very simple compared to our lives, but they have mucho love and have shared so...

Nov 12, 2012 - San José – Chaos City

Sodeli, hüt goht s aber ab uf d Gass! Zerscht allerdings e rächti Stärggig, was do zum z Morge traditionellerwys gallo pinto bedyttet … jo genau: Ryys mit schwarze Bohne! Derzue plátanos, also Kochbanane *schmatz*. So gsterggt stürze mer ys ins Gewusel vo San José – per pedes.

Nov 11, 2012 - Costa Rica

Do schafft me s während 2 Wuche Herbschtmäss e groosse Booge um e Schüttelbächer z mache, und denn hoggt me e paar 1000 Meter zmitz überem Atlantik und wird duregschüttlet. So sehr y mit em Fliege e Zwäckgmainschaft ygange bi, so wurd y in däne Momänt doch lieber z Fuess go.

Aug 5, 2012 - No way Jose!!!

We hit the road in spots to San Jose and arrived a good hour and half early! Which was great as the only air conditioning to stop our Irish skin from melting was through the open windows!  But it was back to the same old Thailand style because we were no sooner off the bus when some "helpful" men started picking up our bags and told us our hostel was full and he'd bring us to another one! After politely telling him to jog on we got ourselves to the fort Knox that was hostel Pangea! A bit of food and Internet to plan the next steps and then...

Jul 30, 2012 - Goodby South America

My final road trip in Central America and it was on local buses - but not the chicken buses that you find further north. One change of bus in a very uninteresting town followed by a taxi and we arrived at my final south American destination. The Hemingway Inn is a quirky place with rooms name after authors who spent time in south America - Hemingway for one never did find out if he stayed there but the place is pretty old and he may have done is a restored colonial building and they are still restoring but it does have a nice courtyard with...

May 18, 2012 - Day 3

Travelled from San Jose to La Fortuna. So far so good travelling with 7 strangers. Our tour guide (Melvin) is awesome. We went white water rafting on level 3 and 4 rapids. It was great. They were continuous rapids but the water wasn't so deep. The hostel is really nice. Really new and has everything. Not much different than a hotel only $60/night instead of $300. We went for an incredible dinner. Coconut shrimp. The cats and dogs are aloud to just come and go as they please so had dinner with one cat and one dog. Shared my shrimp as it was...

May 18, 2012 - Day 4

Woke up early again. Their breakfasts are soooo good. Pretty much you can get rice and beans no matter what time of day. The scrambled eggs are the best, cheese is really good (going to cheese factory in a couple days) and then we had papaya, pineapple *better than Hawaii even, bananas. All for $6. Its the only cheap meal I will find today lol. Went canyoneering. The first rappel was about 20 feet, the second about 120 feet, the third about 30 fee and the fourth about 220 feet. I have some great photos to upload later. The best part though...

May 16, 2012 - Day 2

Found the computer but the keyboard isnt the same. Breakfast was amazing. Scrambled egss and fresh fruit. The hotel is the cutest hotel and is covered in murals and interesting things. I cant get my photos to up load here which is unfortunate because the facebook isnt working really well either. I am heading out today to see their National Theatre, a huge Catholic church (see if the candles light on their own lol) and wander around the market. Met a girl from London who is on my tour so we are just wondering around today. My back pack has...

May 16, 2012 - day 2

Saw 2 people on scooter (seperate incidents) get hit by taxis. It's crazy here. Insanely busy. Lotsa fun walking around and in their markets. Lunch was the best steak I've ever eaten. It actually was steak, chicken breast, prawns, avacados salad and veggies. Choked on some hot sauce. But the hot sauce on the steak was amazing. I wish I could get my pictures to post in here. Yes I have a photo of the steak. I never eat steak. Tonight going with the group for dinner :)
