Nov 15, 2020 - Desert Gold RV

This drive for the past two days has been easy 668 mile drive. Almost 100 miles less than we previous calculated. Yeah! We'll be here at Desert Gold for 5 or 6 months. We're anticipating a mellow winter due to the China Virus. We're told that virtually ALL activities have been cancelled. And, that is disconcerting for all of us, as this is a very, very active park. There are many things to do and get involved here, whether it be painting, quilting, sewing, church, poker, bingo or atv riding and more!

Oct 25, 2019 - We arrive at Brenda, AZ.

It’s hard to leave friends early, on time, especially when there’s so much to say! We had forgotten though, that we had a 320 mile drive ahead of us. Luckily, we had great traffic on I-10 and later the transition to I-8 so there were no delays... We don’t go through Phoenix, we go around Phoenix. Look at it on a map, using I-10, make the transition to I-8, to Gila Bend then Hwy 85 to I-10 and then continue west. Awesome route... A little longer but a lot less stressful. When we landed at Desert Gold we parked and met old friends, some we...

Jan 25, 2017 - Desert Gold RV, Brenda, AZ

We departed a very cold, sunny morning at Benson for the final leg of our travel to the Fuller wintering grounds in Brenda, AZ and the Desert Gold RV Park. At the end of the day it's a 290 mile trip today, changing drivers twice made the going pretty easy. We arrived at 2:30 giving us plenty of time to open the park model, unload the trailer and park the 5'er before it got dark. We're home at the wintering grounds...

Oct 1, 2015 - Desert Gold RV Resort, Brenda, AZ

Our drive of about 4 hours south of Las Vegas into Arizona to our vacation home at Desert Gold RV Resort. We'll be here for two months, primarily to do some "do it yourself" fixups on our park model. This little vacation home is 30 years old and needs some updating to the 21st century! When we arrive it was 102 to 105 degrees. Not at all what we expected to find, we were thinking maybe 90's. We unpack the fifth-wheel and rental truck quickly. Thankfully the return of the "Ya'll Haul" rental is just over to Quartzsite, only about 15 mile...

Mar 21, 2015 - A look at the future

On the day before we left for the Escapade, we decided to look at some of the park models that have come up on the market in this resort. Several were available at a very low price around $8K to $14K. Others still were available to purchase at higher prices 30K and up. Both of those ranges have their reasons for us not to consider them. For us, a space backing to the BLM land was most desireable. Space D-28 came up on the market one day, a friend told us about it. Rebecca went to look at it, later Dave did. Having previously discussed what...

Mar 2, 2015 - Desert Gold RV

Winter Storm Thor was bearing down on us so we departed Yuma early enough to make the 95 miles quick enough to get to Brenda, AZ before the rains came. All that worked out just fine. We really like this little place, it feels like home coming for us. We'll be here for 5 to 6 weeks. We have several friends in the area . Stay tuned...

Mar 24, 2014 - Desert Gold RV, Brenda, AZ

It was a very easy 140 mile drive from Cottonwood south to west Phoenix and finally on Hwy 60 to Brenda and the Desert Gold RV Park. It's a large park with about 550 spaces, many of which are occupied with park models owned by snowbirds. A park model is a very small (< 400 sq ft) mobile home looking item that one typically just parks and leaves it for an annual space rent fee paid to the park. They put us next to our friends the Fosters, who work part-time here . We've been here before, but only for a couple nights, we like this little...

Oct 31, 2013 - Now this is real desert

We drove the short 94 miles from Lake Havasu City to Brenda in just a couple of hours including several stops to let the resident canines do their thing outdoors. The weather was absolutely perfect for the short journey, traffic was fairly light and road surfaces decent enough for government work. While setting up our rolling home at a huge space at Black Rock RV Village in Brenda, we were approached by long time travel friends Ron and Gloria. We last saw the two good folks at Red Rock RV Park in Island Park, Idaho during the summer of...

Dec 27, 2012 - Quartzsite

Since arriving at Brenda and the Black Rock RV Park we've made a couple trips back the 11 miles to Quartzsite for groceries and just bumming around. Quartzsite is a popular RV camping area for winter visitors, and tourism is the major contributor to Quartzsite's economy. Nine major gem, mineral, and 15 general swap meet shows are very popular tourist attractions, attracting about 1.5 million people annually, mostly in January and February. Pretty quite right now but things will get busy next month.

Dec 20, 2012 - Brenda AZ - Gateway Ranch RV Park

Moved to this campground in Brenda AZ when they said rain and cool weather were coming. Sure enough, it rained for 2 days in a row and the weather got chilly! I thought the desert was supposed to be dry and hot! It did dry out and get sunny one day, but the next day was cloudy and with more rain. A neighbor in the campground told Roger he's even seen snow on top of the hills around us one year. I don't need to see that. Baked cookies with Melissa and Savannah yesterday. Roger played soccer with Dallas. Roger is busy making rum balls today....

Mar 4, 2012 - Our time in Brenda Arizona

It's hard to believe that we have been in Arizona for three months, but sure enough, it's true! We have both managed to stay plenty busy. As our last entry depicts, ATV riding is a big thing here. Rick has gone on rides several days each week - only twice by himself. There are always others in the park willing to go out. Every ride brings something different and interesting to see. I have gone several times and enjoyed every outing. The book I wrote came out in paperback just days before Christmas so we dashed up to Boise to get the first...
