Nov 18, 2018 - Journeys end...

Sorry for the long time between updates. Let me bring you up to speed in what has been happening to us. In mid September we spent a week in Hemet Ca. We went there to visit our friends Glyn and Ethel Scott. We met Glyn and Ethel on the caravan we took to Alaska in 2015. Ethel is recovering from a fall earlier this summer. So far things seems to be progressing well for her. We had a good time visiting during our stay. We had a chance to do some 'touring' of the Southern California area. Glyn took us to check out four military FamCamps in the...

Oct 14, 2018 - Bye, Bye Boise

After spending more than a month in Boise, it was time to say goodbye and move on down the road. It took us a couple of weeks after the wedding to get over the emotional let down but it helped that we were able to spend time with Kristine and Steve and Steve’s parents, Jim and Nina. Ed continued to play pickle ball several times a week and I think that is good for him. We took some drives to see more of beautiful Idaho, especially since the trees were turning and the colors were gorgeous. We went to an outdoor concert at the Botanical...

May 23, 2018 - Casino Night

This morning we drove back to Havasu City to the dermatologist to get my stitches taken out. While I am really glad to get them out, now I will have to start working on scar reduction. Afterwards we went to El Pollo Loco for lunch. It took a bit of convincing to get Don to stop there, but we were both pleasantly surprised to find that it was really good. Don even said it may be his new favorite fast food place. “Better than Burger King” I asked? And he said it was. Hooray! This evening we went to the casino for a complimentary dinner at the...

May 21, 2018 - Back to the RV

On Monday we drove back home to the kitty. On the way back we drove through Sun City West to visit with Shirleyann, a friend from Pagosa. We had worked together in the nursing home in Pagosa. She and her husband moved to Surprise a couple years after we went full time. We visited with them there, then after her husband passed away she moved to Sun City West. She has been there for a couple of years now, so it was fun to finally get to visit her. We also visited Bill and Vickie, sister and brother in law from Don’s first marriage. They have...

May 20, 2018 - Mike and Jan

After breakfast this morning, we went to the home and garden show. It was quite large and we spent an enjoyable several hours walking around checking out the various booths. Don ate his way around the show, sampling all the chocolate the vendors had out at their booth. We laughed a lot, bought a few things, went through some RVs on display and generally had a good time. Afterwards they took us downtown, on Whiskey Row, for a light lunch. Yesterday we had made plans to have dinner with Mike and Jan at their place. It was fun to see all the...

May 19, 2018 - Prescott

We deserted the kitty this morning to drive to Prescott to visit with friends, Dan and Darlene. It had been a while since we had seen them. And the last time we had the trailer with us so stayed in a national forest campground. This time we were going to stay with them as guests in their home. It was funny, we didn’t have their address, so relied on our memory instead of the GPS to find their place again. And we drove right to it! Another couple, Mike and Jan, joined us for drinks and an excellent dinner of barbecues ribs. Jan brought sides...

May 17, 2018 - Oh No !

We drove across the river today to Laughlin so I could put something in the mail. Afterwards we went for a drive to check out some of the local area. We found a park across the river with hiking and biking trails, which we will definitely have to check out more thoroughly next year. We also drove a few roads on the Arizona side and discovered something I thought was really scary. Being from Colorado I was used to seeing runaway truck ramps. They consist of a designated roadway up a hill and paved with deep gravel. Not so here! It was a...

May 16, 2018 - How does She Know?

Where is the time going? I cannot believe this month is half over already! It is getting hot again, so we just stayed in today. Except for a long walk around the park this morning. There was a potluck scheduled for dinner this evening. We had not been able to go to the one last week so planned to go tonight. It was funny. On the way to the clubhouse it looked deserted. And sure enough, there were the two ladies who work here, and Walt, the man whose trailer burned, and us. It was nice talking with Walt; a very nice man who, unfortunately,...

May 15, 2018 - A Winner !

So we went into Laughlin today to this branch of the Dermatology clinic for Don’s checkup. They have offices in 5 different cities; they must go crazy moving from office to office, but glad they do so we didn’t have to drive back to Havasu City again. (We do that next week for my stitches.) It didn’t take very long, so we drove back to the casino for breakfast and to play the final $20 on my players card. Since I am terrible at gambling, I played until I made $20 then cashed out. I guess I just hate to lose money, even if it’s not mine!

May 13, 2018 - Mother's Day

Don told me he had planned a nice Mother’s Day for me, but would not tell me anything about it. It began with coffee and watching Sunday Morning in bed. The second cup of coffee was liberally laced with Irish /cream, a treat my cousin Sonny got us started on. Then he said to get ready to go; “we are going out to eat breakfast.” Of course. We went to IHop and luckily got there just before the rush started. He had chicken fried steak and eggs, and I had corned beef hash and eggs. Then we started driving. He turned onto a dirt road just off...

May 11, 2018 - Back to Ordinary

Yesterday and the night before were difficult, as there was much pain from the surgery. But things are much better now, and I finally got a good night’s sleep. Until 4:30 this morning, that is, when the trash truck emptied the dumpster near us. Not a good idea! Even woke up the cat, who decided that it was nearly time to get up and so got us up sooner than normal. This was laundry day, so we decided to get it done before it got too hot. It is supposed to be cooler today, only 99 instead of 107. Yay!?
