Oct 27, 2009 - Goodyear, AZ
10-27-09 Goodyear, Arizona Today was a short hop down I-10 to Goodyear, Arizona where we set up camp before noon at the Cotton Lane RV and Golf Resort. The golf part is an executive par 3 course with 4 holes to play. We discovered the owners are making improvements to bring the park up to a true resort location. But for now they only have the 4 holes that will open in a couple of days! The weather report called for high winds in the area followed by a cold front lingering around until the weekend. With snow and freezing temperatures...Jump to full entry
Aug 3, 2009 - A Day in the Desert
Greetings All, We are in the first day of our trip to Virginia. I must tell you that Arizona in August must be close to what it would be like in Hell. The temperature today was generally around 112 degrees. I have a road thermometer in my engine compartment. When we stopped for the night it read 133 degrees. Currently at 9:21 it still reads 110. Of course we have both air conditioners going full blast. Tomorrow we will be up around 5300 feet so it should be cooler. Conor (Grandson) went back to the bedroom to watch a movie. Some 2.8 hours...Jump to full entry
Feb 24, 2008 - Hanging out in Goodyear
We finished in Vegas after our initial training session with Woodalls and drove back to our "unofficial" second home in Goodyear, AZ. Training was great, Alexis and I both got sick, and Vegas, as always, sucks! Got back to Goodyear in time to celebrate Karyn Swinfords 60th birthday and my 52nd. Alexis was bummed her beloved Cowboys lost in the playoffs to the hated Giants, but as a lifelong Cubs fan, I told her with a smile "wait until next year". We have been working on our homework assignments for our next 2 week training class in Ventura...Jump to full entry
Jan 6, 2008 - Driving the big sail through the prairie wind
January 6, 2008 Nothing much happening today except a battle with the wind.. Driving day all day long. Got off before 9:30 am in El Paso and by nonn we were over 200 miles down the road. We crossed New Mexico with the wheel pulled sideways most of the time because of 20-30 mph wind coming from the south that tried to blow our 45 foot coach north. By the time we made Arizona, the wind had calmed down. Once we got into Arizona, we forged our way across Arizona to the other side of Phoenix to Goodyear, Arizona. We didn't come here with a...Jump to full entry
Nov 25, 2007 - Baja Part 3
When we last left off, we were leaving Cabo San Lucas and starting the return trip back north. We stopped in Loreto, where Kevin went fishing one morning with Ron and Fred. Kevin, the novice fisherman of the group, turned out to be the only one to catch a fish! It was a Dorado, which is also called the dolphin fish or mahi-mahi. It spent the rest of the trip back in our freezer. We'll let you know how it turns out! Then we returned to our favorite spot on the trip, camping at Santispac Beach. This time we were parked there for three...Jump to full entry
Oct 20, 2007 - Goodyear, AZ/Some Exciting News!!
Greetings from Goodyear, Arizona. If you don't remember (there will be a test later!) from last year, Goodyear was our first stop after we left St. Louis last year on Halloween. It is home to our friends Bob & Karyn Swinford, Greg & Sharon Compton, and several other couples we either know through Vivians Vineyards or have met since we started visiting Bob & Karyn here. Well, after a year of generally goofing off, I'm afraid the time has come for us to stop having so much darn fun and get our butts back to work. Woodalls, the publishing...Jump to full entry
Mar 23, 2006 - Destiny RV Resort in Goodyear, AZ--not for us!
The Destiny RV Resort is our first Arizona resort! We really don't think the snowbird life is for us though. This is a very large place with all of the stuff that snowbirds expect in a winter residence including quite a few park models, shuffleboard courts, swimming pool, spa, and exercise room. The big drawback is a general lack of reasonable space for a dog to enjoy. We were parked across the street from the dog runs, which consisted of two very small rock covered enclosures with poop scoops. The management requested that all dogs be...Jump to full entry
