Jan 25, 2016 - travel "day"
I spent most of the day taking my dogs to their various babysitters (Thank you guys!) and got home with just enough time to take a quick shower, pack the last minute “stuff” we all take, and headed for the airport. I parked my car at the storage lot and got to the airport with plenty of time to spare. My first flight was a short hop to Los Angeles, then boarded the giant Boeing 777 for the flight to Sydney. The flight was incredibly looooong, but overall uneventful. I had nice seatmates and they fed us supper, breakfast and lunch. I got to...Jump to full entry
Mar 11, 2015 - Peoria Sports Complex
Our Spring Baseball volunteer activities have become routine. We are ticket takers. We go to the park 2 hrs before game time, report to the gates 90 minutes before game time, then scan tickets with a hand-held ticket reader for 2 hours. About 30 minutes after the game starts, we are done! Comedian Will Ferrell did a promotion on March 12th for his new HBO baseball movie. He traveled to 5 different games in one day and played 10+ positions for the teams at each park. Game times were changed to a staggered schedule so that he could visit the...Jump to full entry

Mar 4, 2015 - Peoria Sports Complex-Opening Day!
We are volunteering at the ballpark again. The Peoria Sports Complex hosts the Padres and the Mariners. This year we are going to be ticket-takers, which means we scan the tickets with a hand-held bar code scanner and admit the fans to the park. We start 90 minutes before game time and are busy till about 15 minutes after the game starts. Then we are done so we grab a beer and a hot dog and find an empty seat to watch the game. Best job I ever had!Jump to full entry
Apr 15, 2014 - Fun with Larry and Pam
We left the campground Monday morning after Cherie and Teresa enjoyed a morning dip in the natural springs hot tub at the campground. We had the place to ourselves and it was very relaxing. Headed northwest through mostly desert and scrub brush but the mountains started to appear and we began to notice the classic Arizona Segura cactuses. They are vigorously protected these days but not so much back in the old days when someone we know used to take rides out with buddies to see how many shots it would take to down one. Made it to Larry...Jump to full entry
Apr 12, 2014 - Day 1: Travel Day
Left our house for Chris and Betty's house in Peoria at 4am. Arrived in Peoria at 1030am. My parents arrived at 1100am. Hung out with Gigi, Larry, Debbie, Chris and Betty. Brian got to drive Larry's new Dodge Ram 3500 diesel 4x4 and fell in love with it. Had lunch, said our goodbyes and loaded up the cars. Aidan and Emma rode with Grammy and Grandpa who led the caravan. We got into Sedona Proper at about 3:15pm. What an amazing scene. So glad we did not take the 260 which would have bypassed all the amazing scenery. To get into Sedona, we...Jump to full entry

Feb 12, 2014 - Lake Pleasant, Arizona...
Well, we're back on the road again! We've actually been enjoying ourselves in Arizona for the past 5 days and are currently at Lake Pleasant. It's beautiful here, very laid back and quiet. Wish we could hang around longer but we're heading into Phoenix later today to get our awning checked out before settling in for the weekend. We're attending the three day 2014 Southwest Gospel Music Festival again this year. It's at the Grand Canyon University and is Thursday, Friday & Saturday. If you are in the area we highly recommend you try & attend...Jump to full entry
Dec 26, 2012 - Peoria AZ - Lake Pleasant - Roadrunner Campground
Spent the week of Christmas at Lake Pleasant about 60 miles from Buckeye. Really had fun Christmas eve going to Mass and then to dinner with Michaela, Melissa, Nik, Dallas & Savannah. Reminded us of the days when Mike, Melissa and Michaela were the children at the dinner table having either a Roy Rogers or a Shirley Temple. After dinner, Michaela snapped a picture of Santa and his reindeer flying by, so we all hurried home so Santa could make his stops in Buckeye. Had Christmas dinner at Melissa's. She's a great cook and belongs on Chopped....Jump to full entry
Nov 13, 2011 - Laughlin, NV and Lake Pleasant, AZ
We spent last weekend (11/4 - 6) in Laughlin, NV. Laughlin is a small town on the Colorado River with several casinos. From Laughlin we took a couple motorcycle rides around the Nevada, California and Arizona Tri State area. Saturday we rode south into California then crossed into Parker, Arizona. We then went back north making a stop in Lake Havasu City for lunch at In and Out Burger...one of our favorite fast food restaurants on the west coast. From there we continued up to Bullhead City, AZ which is directly across the Colorado River...Jump to full entry
