Nov 8, 2005 - Phoenix, Arizona
After our little detour to Vegas we had a great drive through the desert to Phoenix. We saw plenty of Prickly Pear Cacti, Cholla Cacti, Joshua Trees, Saguaro Cacti and many more. We camped east of Phoenix in Lost Dutchman State Park. It was a nice place, nice and hot.Jump to full entry
Oct 15, 2005 - Phoenix, AZ
Just finished up a week in Arizona at grandma's retirement community. The drive from KC was pretty uneventful. The park that grandma winters at is very nice. We passed the days away swimming, playing cards and reading. I was glad that I could help get her set up and feel comfortable leaving her in such good hands. I'm flying to Florida today for three weeks in Punta Gorda with my parents. Their house was demolished in Hurricane Charlie last fall and they still don't have it back together. I'm going to help paint, landscape and lend my...Jump to full entry
Oct 1, 2005 - I'm retired! What do I do now?
"You be sure and keep in touch and let us know where you are," eveyone said when I retired. Well ... here's your chance. My family may want to know my where abouts too. Otherwise, they might unexpectedly find me parked in their driveway some morning. So this is their chance too. Thanks to Bob, Dr. Bob, Zeppo, Groucho, Big D and Laks for the laptop to do the keeping in touch with. I'm leaving Thursday, 10/27 to roam around the southwestern U.S. When spring arrives I intend to head up to Alaska for the summer. As I stumble upon wi-fi hotspots...Jump to full entry
Aug 5, 2005 - Roadtrip to Breckenridge
Just wanted to make an entry to start the trip. Friday afternoon we will be hitting the road and heading toward Colorado. We plan to make it to Pagosa Springs, which is 1 hour east of Durango Colorado. This way, we'll be 4 hours from Breck on Saturday morning. There is a lot to get done in our 4-day stay in Breck, but hopefully there will still be some time to sort out the house, prepare for winter, and take in some mean single tracks right out our door. The photos show our condo, and the view. It's the view that sold us.Jump to full entry
Aug 2, 2005 - Flagstaff to Phoenix
Took the scenic route to Phoenix - through Sedona - absolutely beautiful! Recommend it to anyone out this way, best ride yet and not sure we'll beat it - pictures to follow. Got a little lost on the way to Phoenix - arrived about 3pm (i think) - totally smoking here. Catch up, showers then out for dinner - after a drive up the mountain to see where the other half live - fascinating and great drive. Maybe if we win big in Vegas we'll be back to put a deposit down! Food delicious, catch up great - thanks to Simon & Chris!Jump to full entry
Jul 29, 2005 - Phoenix, Arizona - The Grand Canyon State Welcomes You!
Hi Y'all. My apologies for not updating my website for a while but the Contiki Tour was full on and therefore I was constantly on the go and never had a chance to hit the net and post an update. Since you heard from me last I have finished my tour and am sitting in a hotel at LAX ready to fly to Bermuda tomorrow. I'll tell you a bit more about my tour and what I've been doing. After San Diego we traveled east to Phoenix, Arizona. We hit the desert and it began to get even hotter than it was in San Diego. It got up around 110 degrees...Jump to full entry
Jan 26, 2005 - in the lap of luxury
After two weeks roughing it in the desert and the "town" of Quartzsite, we have driven 120 miles east to a suburb of Phoenix to a resort campground. According to our campground book, there are about 20 of these luxurious facilities in the area. We are at the Canyon Vistas campground because #1 - new friends from Canada that we met last summer are staying here for four months and #2 our old friend from our student travel days lives here in Gold Canyon. You can see more about this place by visiting the website at: Canyon Vistas. The website...Jump to full entry
Dec 13, 2004 - Mesa, Arizona
The weather has been sunny and warm - about 80 degrees during the day! It has been wonderful to travel on days like this. The park here is a combination mobile home park with a few sites for motorhomes. When we pulled in they told us to go to the back row and try to find a spot where we might fit. If we back in we could overlap the spot behind us as long as no one else was parked there! We found that all of the hookups are on the wrong side if we back in. It is really odd. Luckily our electric cord reaches under the rig to the opposite...Jump to full entry

Aug 31, 2004 - I left my heart..........
Howdy! Sorry I haven't been in touch for ages but its been murder trying to find an internet connection around here! You just wouldn't believe it!! Anyway, San Francisco was sweeeeeeeeeeet! After my initial O.M.G reaction I took a step back, you know looked around, flicked through a few pamphlets and leaflets, knocked it off and picked it back up again!! I met the girls who were in my dorm. One was a chinese girl who didn't speak much english and was slightly peculiar! One was from L.A and she was down here treating herself for her...Jump to full entry

May 31, 2004 - Phoenix
Today I caught the bus from Flagstaff to Phoenix - it was a short trip - about 3 hours. I'm only here for 1 night - mainly I'm here to catch a plane to New Orleans tomorrow. I'm getting a bit homesick - well I think it's mainly that I'm sick of moving around all the time so tonight I've treated myself to a hotel room. I got a cheap deal and they'll take me to the airport for free so it doesn't actually work out that much more expensive :) I'm loving the luxury of my king size bed and my own bathroom! I've also changed my plans a bit - I'm...Jump to full entry
