Oct 7, 2019 - Chores in Gallup, NM

We arrived at the USA RV Park with only a minor blip in the journey. When we were a mere one quarter mile from the entrance to the park, our GPS had us make a left turn into a mobile home park. I’m sure the residents thought we were nuts driving through their neighborhood, and we were a little perplexed when Mavis told us to “leave the road” (?), and can I tell you, there were a FLIPPING MILLION speed bumps which made our impromptu side trip way more challenging than it needed to be, but we circled through and called the RV park when we...

Apr 30, 2019 - Colorado Springs, CO to Gallup, NM

We arrived in Gallup about 8pm, having left the Land Rover dealer about 12:15. Problem was found by a very diligent and dedicated service tech who didn't want us to go back on the road with the possibility of another problem. Turns out there was a ground wire loose in the back of the vehicle (the battery is in the back, under the spare tire.) Shame on the Land Rover dealer in Cleveland having the car for 8 days and not finding it. Good Grief! MAJOR KUDOS TO THE LAND ROVER DEALER IN COLORADO SPRINGS WHO FOUND IT IN LESS THAN 4 HOURS AND...

Aug 17, 2018 - Crossed the Continental Divide

Today we left the Albuquerque area, yes we are now all done with our doctor appointments, and hopefully with any luck at all we'll live another year. - On our 150 mile trip today we had to cross over the Continental Divide which is 7245' in elevation and it was a little on the cool side. Right before lunch time we arrived at USA RV Park in Gallup. New Mexico and it's a little warmer here at 6468' and I may even jump in the swimming pool today, it's been since late May since I've been in the water. - We're only here for one night and then...

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

May 19, 2018 - Gallup, New Mexico

5 1/2 weeks on the road so far. What an awesome trip. Sure we've had mechanical problems and some (in my opinion) ridiculous hot temperatures. I guess it's all what you're used to. Anyway, issues and concerns with aging parents (John's), so we've shortened our list of things we wanted to see and do and we're on the fast track heading home.

Apr 7, 2018 - Saturday Gallup NM

We got to the flea market early to beat the rush. Glad we went early because later the place was packed and parking was a long way from the market. We spend some time there and Candy only got some little things. It has lots of handmade Indian jewelry and places to eat local food. We didn’t sample the food because it just didn’t feel right, some of the places it is fixed are not the most sanitary places. We spend a couple of hours there and then drove to old downtown. We parked and walked around, lots of bars and pawn shops, Candy did find a...

2018 Winter

Apr 6, 2018 - Friday Gallup NM

Today we said good bye to Camp Verde and Zane Grey RV Park for our drive to Gallup NM. We want to bet there today so we can visit the Indian Flea Market that is held every Saturday in Gallup. The drive out of Camp Verde on I-17 was uphill most of the drive to I-40. All the gas I saved going to Camp Verde I used leaving. It was about 180 miles to Gallup but once we got on I-40 it was an easy drive. We arrived at the USA RV Park in Gallup late afternoon so after we set up that was it for the day. I did scout out the location of the Indian...

2018 Winter

Sep 23, 2017 - High Wind and Rain

Good thing I gained an hour because the drive was slower than normal due to high wind and rain. I stopped to get gas and, further down the road, stopped for something to eat. Both times I was nearly blown away. Hope things are calmer tomorrow when I visit Window Rock.

Jul 17, 2017 - Gallup, NM stop

We left Raton about 7:30 am and drove to Albuquerque to the Harley dealership to have the oil changed in the trike. The morning was sunny and was great riding temperature. It was warm and sunny until we were about an hour and a half from Gallup, NM. The skies ahead were dark so we stopped along the road and put our rain suits on. We had a few spots of sprinkles and then it poured for a short time. The sun came out again when we were about a half an hour from Gallup where we planned to spend the last night on the road. It is also our 46th...

Jun 15, 2017 - Four Corners

Yesterday we drove from Santa Rosa to Gallup. It was a relatively short day. We departed Santa Rosa about 8:30, yes that is right, 8:30! Guess my internal clock is really off, I had set the alarm for 7:30, but I woke up about 6, laid in bed for about 30 minutes and then decided to get up. While we were eating breakfast, we watched the mass exodus out of the park. Once on the road things went well. We stopped at a place called Clines Corners. The only thing there is a very large gift store with a restaurant and Subway as well as a snack...

Utah and Back

Jun 2, 2017 - Gallop, NM

Fri., June 2nd – Today we headed west through Amarillo toward the New Mexico line. After a quick stop in Albuquerque, we made it to our next destination, Red Rock Park, on the outskirts of Gallop, NM smack in the middle of Native American country. We tried Jerry’s Café, a top rated locals’ Mexican restaurant that serves every dish with red or green chiles…beware, it does more than just add a little kick to the dish! We finished the day strolling the downtown where we took in a little of the nightly Indian Dancers at the Courthouse Square...

May 18, 2017 - Days 1and 2

On our first day, we got up at 4:00 am because they were to serve us breakfast at 5:45. When we went down at 5:00 to load our gear onto the trike, we noticed that most of the bikers had already gone to the staging area! All 1000 plus bikers were ready and anxious! After we ate a breakfast burrito, we had a safety meeting and prayer and then headed out about 8:00. The weather was cool and cloudy but then got foggy. As we got farther east, the sun came out and was hot for a while. We had a great lunch and ceremony from the town of Needles,...

Oct 9, 2016 - days 34, 35 & 36 Santa Fe, Albuquerque & Gallup

We're back! Friday, October '7 -- Rosalea got a manicure, I got the car washed. We had tired of the hotel's breakfast and decided to have breakfast at Paneras. When we were at the quilt store yesterday, we heard about a "Quilt Fiesta." When I picked up Rosalea, we headed for the fiesta. The quilts were beautiful. While we were at the fiesta, we learned the balloon festival was happening in Albuquerque. What a coincidence as that was just where we were headed. When we arrived in Albuquerque we stopped by another quilt store. Wow! I don't...
