Candy Kitchen, NM, near Ramah, NM – overnight at Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary, bad & really dusty 4 mile road to get there but seeing & hearing the wolves howl all night was a great experience & almost worth all the dust in & on the rigs & car. Candy Kitchen got it's name many years ago when the residents were making moonshine & needed an excuse for all the sugar deliveries so they named the area Candy Kitchen. Oct 20, 2009 - Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary

The Wolf Sanctuary was a most interesting tour. It is located about 55 miles from Gallup and is a sanctuary for wolves that have been abused or abandoned by their owners. In many cases, the owners did not realize a wolf is a wild animal and cannot be domesticated. The Sanctuary gets 1 to 7 calls each day from people who want to get rid of the wolf "pets".
