Apr 6, 2010 - Taos to Sugarite Canyon

We left Taos on Monday and headed northeast. We climbed over the Sangre de Christo Mountains (the southern portion of the Rocky Mountains) and then dropped a few thousand feet into the beginnings of the grasslands and the prairies. The thing is, we are still at around 7000 feet and there is still some snow on the ground. We wound our way into a wonderful little state park called Sugarite up in the northeast part of the state near the town of Raton.
